It is a novel, the title, a wee bit sarcastic, the heart of which is social commentary, historic events present and past, religion, and other societal monstrosities. Targets are both hard and soft, displayed often with dark humor though sometimes quite seriously. It certainly leans much more liberally but no one is exempt. Later in the book, after the main character encounters a man on a bench who greets him with “Cheerio good chap, you do know that we’re going to kill you tonight, don’t you?” there appear three stories and a play that diverge from social commentary to paint other pictures of, what I’m certain no one could question, is indeed what a wonderful world. But, who exactly are “They”?

I am but a man seeking truth and meaning in a meaningless superficial world of lies. I write so that I might put on display the bleak, hopeless, grinding nothingness and pain of each miserable minute as they march mercilessly alone, me trapped beneath their stabbing, crushing weight wondering only, death, why hath thou forsaken me. Of course, it is difficult for writing to pay all the bills so I have a secondary job as a motivational speaker. Come to think of it though, that’s not exactly raking in the dough either. Actually, there are several lawsuits pending from family members of people who killed themselves during my presentations. I have the utmost confidence all will be resolved with no financial liability incurred upon myself. I truly do. Because you’ve got to have hope. Oh yes you’ve got to have hope.
