Sixteen-year-old Rachel White has it all together…or does she? After discovering her mom’s attempted suicide, Rachel is faced with another nightmare – the possibility of being placed in foster care. As if that isn’t bad enough, her older sister Debbie thinks she has the perfect solution—to drive halfway across the country in search of their biological father. Rachel isn’t sure what’s worse. Can she trust the sister who once abandoned her, who left her to deal with their unstable mother alone? Is Rachel brave enough to do something so…unplanned? And, if she chooses to run, how will she escape her social worker, who insists that “this time” she has the perfect family for Rachel? Above all else, will her dad, who she barely remembers, even want her? As Rachel fights to answer these questions and hold her life together, something unexpected happens. What had always seemed elusive and beyond her reach actually finds her…love.
