A young mother and wife of a naval aviator longs for a white Christmas, and she doesn’t mean yet another white Christmas beach near where her husband is stationed. Grateful for a recent promotion that should keep her man stateside, Liv eagerly anticipates the first family Christmas in several years with her husband, daughter, and extended family.
Then her military marriage undergoes trial by fire as her husband is deployed for an undetermined amount of time right before the holidays, leaving Liv and her little girl in pieces.
Can Liv find true peace in the midst of life’s pieces? Or will the anxiety and secret she’s harboring lead to tragedy?

When she first decided to try her hand at writing a novel, Cathy Bryant followed age-old writing advice: write what you know. Since she’d lived in small-town Texas her entire life, she was more than aware of all the ins and outs, the good, the bad, and the downright ugly. The fictional town of Miller’s Creek, Texas became an amalgamation of all the places she’d lived, as well as the literary version of utopia she longed for.
Readers have latched on to Miller’s Creek, often mentioning how they’d like to live in the back-roads Texas town in spite of nosy neighbors, a group of gossiping men known as the “old geezers,” and the resident town grouch, Otis Thacker. Apparently the deep roots of the town’s citizens, the nostalgia of yesteryear, and the town’s wise and witty mother figure, Mama Beth, make up for all the negatives.
All the novels in the Miller’s Creek series feature a journey theme. Texas Roads, book one in the series, was a 2009 American Christian Fiction Writer’s Genesis contest finalist, and tells the story of one woman’s quest for home. A Path Less Traveled reveals the often-surprising steps required for faith. The third novel in the series, The Way of Grace, takes us down the road of sacrifice. The next book in the collection, Pilgrimage of Promise, was released in 2013, and dealt with Mama Beth’s life experience with frail human promises and the never-failing promises of God. A Bridge Unbroken takes a fictional look at forgiveness—what it is and what it isn’t. Crossroads reveals the heart behind reaching out to prodigals. Cathy is currently at work on the seventh Miller’s Creek novel.
As for Cathy, though she loves her small-town Texas heritage, she recently moved to the lovely Ozark mountains of northwest Arkansas, revisiting Texas every day in her stories.
