Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.
I started to write because I’ve always observed people. I come from a big family and there is a strong tradition of ‘Storytelling’. I could see a lot of ‘comedy-potential’ in the characters I dealt with in jobs in my own life. I don’t mean laughing at people, I just mean that I wanted to write to entertain and a lot of people are very funny.
Tell us about your books.
I’ve just put my first novel up on Kindle .I have the second one nearly finished. It is going to be a long series as it involves’Jane Austen’, who was an angel sent to us to cheer us up, going in and out of all kinds of Parallel Universes’ and changing the outcome of history in each of those universes.I could see a lot of ‘comedy-potential’ in using ‘Jane Austen’ as a kind of Superhero, having the powers of an angel, to face up to Napoleon, Blackbeard, the Apache tribes of the un-dead in the Wild West, Vlad the impailor and a host of other bad-guys.
How did you go about getting published?
I tried to get a literary agent but it was very difficult to fit my book into any kind of genre because it is a science Fiction comedy romance. E.books are my only realistic chance of being published but i will invest in self publishing in paperback and selling them on kindle.
What is your writing process? Do you have a time, day or place you like to write?
Always first thing in the morning. You’ve just got to make writing a habit. Remember:’ there is no such thing as ‘Writing’…there is only ‘Re-writing’….so don’t fret about how good any piece is…..just keep going and revise later.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I love to direct actors in a play.I am an actor and I know that the best way to learn something is to teach it.
Any advice for authors about book covers?
Definitely put up the money to get one done by a professional. It’s vital and will pay for itself in sales anyway.
Any marketing tips you’d like to share with other authors?
It is a good idea to put your email and a sample chapter of your next book at the end of your first one. Ask the reader to give you a review of your book in exchange for your next E.book free. All they have to do is email you and you can send them your book.
