Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.
I think initially I was ticked off with having to over analyze everything in high school. I just wanted to write something for fun, so I did. Then, I did it again and again, and habit became passion became obsession.
Tell us about your books.
Devya’s Children – YA scifi – a group of genetically altered children with special powers who learn to survive people trying to manipulate them.
Heartfelt Cases – Christian Mystery – a pair of FBI Special Agents tackle some pretty personal cases.
Lei Crime Kindle World – Mystery/Suspense – Never Again – A young woman picks up a stalker when she tries to break up with her boyfriend.
Shadow Council Series – Mystery/Thriller – FBI Special Agent Marcella Scott gets caught up in bank robberies, murder-for-hire schemes, and good old-fashioned terrorists.
Sydney Rye Kindle World – Fatal Interest – Sydney and Blue investigate some mishaps at a posh boarding school.
How did you go about getting published?
Self-publishing. Way back in the day, I tried sending out query letters and almost got signed by two different crooks. Scared the heck out of the new baby author in me, so I went with a self-publishing company. Then, it got super easy to really self-publish as in by yourself too, so I did that. Now I’m swinging around and considering trying the traditional road with a separate series.
What is your writing process? Do you have a time, day or place you like to write?
I teach high school chemistry, so most school days, I nap after school, eat, then write from about 6:30-11 pm.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
Teach chemistry, collect Legos, occasionally play video games or watch movies.
Any advice for authors about book covers?
Find a cover artist you can afford and who’ll work with you. There are some very talented people out there.
Any marketing tips you’d like to share with other authors?
Be nice to people.
Join Facebook groups that will support you, not just those places where everybody’s shouting “buy my stuff.”
What’s your favorite book?
I’ll give you a different answer every single time. (This round I’ll go with: The Bible)
What are you reading now?
Murder in Sun City by Sid Frost
What’s your next book project?
The story I just finished is about a pair of guardian angels in training. I’m looking for beta readers 🙂 Hit me up on Facebook if that sounds intriguing to you.
