Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.
I was inspired to write ‘Wisdom for My Son and Daughter’ reflecting on my own life and the life ahead for my children. Additionally reflecting on the struggles of others and thinking about how I could help them in anyway also was the inspiration behind the book.
Tell us about your books.
Wisdom for My Son and Daughter is my sole book.
Here is a little more about the book and its birth….
Life: what is it all about? Why do we often approach it the wrong way? Why are there so many pitfalls we have to be careful of?
We all want the best for our offspring as they grow into adulthood. We want them to have WISDOM, to learn from our mistakes, to be aware of the wonderful and not-so-wonderful aspects of the world. How can we enhance our life and theirs using positive psychology, knowledge and awareness?
The world is rapidly changing; it has many problems. Wouldn’t life be easier if we were given a manual on the human condition, an operating guide to human emotions including some sound, thought-out advice?
If I were to die tomorrow, what would I leave to help and guide others? Could I reflect on my life and that of others in order to help my children and society?
These are some of the questions the author had in mind in developing Wisdom for My Son and Daughter. The author touches on many subjects of immense interest and sometimes controversy. Psychology, philosophy, science, politics and religion are all looked at in relation to life, with pragmatic reasoning.
How did you go about getting published?
I self-published. Ebook with KDP then paperback with Createspace.
What is your writing process? Do you have a time, day or place you like to write?
No set writing process. As I find inspiration I write small notes down. Later upon finding time I would write, expanding on my notes that reflected my ideas and thoughts at the time.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I’m a full time airline captain. No pets. Family takes up a lot of time for me. Hobbies – keeping fit, reading, music and movies.
Any advice for authors about book covers?
Settle on size and background first from a short list then work forward with the rest. My cover came about relatively quickly. Some things just jump out and resonate with your ‘book’.
Any marketing tips you’d like to share with other authors?
I’m still rapidly learning being a debut author. Steep learning curve. Like anything in life, hard work yields results….usually!
