Barney and Hattie Frank are 12-year-old twins who play football together in the school team. Hattie is the better player but Barney thinks he can see where the school team is going wrong. So, when a TV talent show is looking for a new manager to help a failing Premiership team to start scoring again, Barney’s sure he knows the answer. Maybe to demonstrate his skills, he could train Hattie to be a top goal scorer. Secretly he enters the show. Can he help the school team win the County Cup? Will he get selected for the TV show against other top coaches and professionals. Why should a Premiership team listen to a kid? If only he could win, wouldn’t that prove that he knows all about football, even if he’s not the best player.

What I love about sport is that everyone can enjoy it, whether watching or playing. I have played many different sports, both competitively and just for fun and exercise. Growing up I played in and captained many team sports including hockey, netball, tennis doubles, badminton doubles, swimming relay teams. I also liked to dance. As a mum, I’ve watched my children play hundreds of games of football, rugby and cricket, often helping them practise in the back garden. I’ve visited some of the top sporting venues in the country including Wembley Football Stadium, Twickenham Rugby stadium, Wimbledon (the home of tennis) and was lucky enough to watch the athletics, handball and hockey at the London Olympics in 2012. Nowadays I like to ski, play table-tennis, hike and enjoy aqua-aerobics where I smile and laugh throughout the whole lesson. I’ve walked up the highest mountains in England and much higher mountains in New Zealand and Peru, where a group of llamas followed me up the path! I was going so slowly, but felt a great sense of achievement to have reached the top. Through sport I’ve been challenged to learn new techniques, taken on the role of leader, coped with losses, learnt to organise teams and arrange fixtures. Most important of all I’ve had fun and made some FRANKTASTIC friends!
