Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.
I’m an author of contemporary sweet romance. I was inspired to write my newest (and first) series because I wanted to create a fictional place where people dealt with real life, the ups and downs and where the community supported each other.
Tell us about your books.
My current stroy, Book 0 of the Nesting Hollow series is a short story called Love, A Sweet Surprise.
Here’s a brief description.
In this sweet romance, set in Vermont, Katy Lyons secretly longs for a man that would love her the way she’s always dreamed but how could that happen if she keeps a padlock on her heart?
Katy had moved past her desperate longing to have a man in her life after several short-lived and failed attempts. Finally, she felt content as a single woman with a fantastic job. She had found her place in this world and liked it. Should she open her heart one more time? She decides that she can’t give up her chance at true love no matter what it costs her.
If you love a happy ending, this clean and wholesome, contemporary romance might just be for you.
How did you go about getting published?
I am an indie author.
What is your writing process? Do you have a time, day or place you like to write?
My writing process is to write every day. I do my best creative work in the morning. I reserve the afternoons to answer my reader’s emails and to work on the business of writing.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I am a full-time writer. When I’m not writing I love to travel and visit my children and grandchildren.
Any advice for authors about book covers?
My advice about book covers: Contract the best cover designer you can afford and choose one who understands your genre. Also, it’s important to research the top book covers in your genre and have your cover designed to fit the tone of those book covers.
Any marketing tips you’d like to share with other authors?
Your newsletter is your greatest asset. The folks on your mailing list want to know about your work or they wouldn’t have signed up and they wouldn’t remain on your list if they didn’t want to hear about your writing journey and your book releases.
My advice is to be yourself. Be genuine with your readers and love them.
What’s your favorite book?
Choosing a favorite book is always the hardest question for me to answer. My taste is varied so I have favorites in several genres. If I had to choose one favorite it would be Harry Potter.
What are you reading now?
Today, I’m reading Bandersnatch (NF) and Still Water Rising by Steena Holmes (Fiction).
What’s your next book project?
At the moment, I’m in the editing process for Book 1 of the Nesting Hollow series. The first draft of Book 2 is finished and I’m in the imagining stage for Book 3.
